Flicko

Flicko is an intuitive remote control app that lets you operate your Mac straight from your smartphone.

From trackpad gestures and cursor navigation to text input, shortcut execution, and switching between active applications—everything is handled right from your phone.

Why I Built It: Taking "Bed Computing" Further

I often find myself operating my MacBook while lying in bed—a comfortable habit I've kept up for a while.

When relaxing in bed and watching YouTube on an external monitor, I always thought, "I wish I could control my Mac right from my hands without having to get up." That was the initial spark behind Flicko.

More recently, as AI-assisted coding has become part of my routine, I also wanted a frictionless way to trigger prompts and make quick edits from bed using my phone. Flicko began as an effort to bring the Mac experience closer, in the most relaxed posture possible.

What It Can Do

Rather than just a simple remote, Flicko is crafted with everyday comfort in mind:

• Trackpad Navigation: Move the cursor, click, and scroll naturally on your phone screen, just like a Mac trackpad.
• Media Controls: Play, pause, adjust volume, and navigate media currently playing on your Mac.
• Slide Controls & Speaker Notes: Integrates with presentation apps like PowerPoint, letting you advance slides and reference speaker notes directly on your phone.
• Custom Shortcuts: Freely configure and trigger your favorite keyboard shortcuts and actions.
• Voice Dictation: Dictate text directly through your phone microphone straight onto your Mac.
• App Switching: View and jump between currently open Mac applications with a single tap.

What's Next

Instead of stopping at a personal toy, I am designing Flicko as a refined product that anyone can pick up and enjoy using right away.

While it is not yet published on the App Store, I use it daily to spot rough edges and refine the interactions. After adding some polish and final touches, I plan to release it publicly on the App Store for others to try.
